OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The passive dehumidification wheel works efficiently alongside the enthalpy wheel to improve performance in both cooling and dehumidification modes. In summer, the enthalpy wheel first reduces the sensible (heat) and latent (moisture) energies, after which the passive wheel further dehumidifies the air for lower absolute humidity levels and additional energy savings. Similarly, on the return air side, the passive wheel cools the air before it reaches the enthalpy wheel, enhancing its pre-cooling effect and improving overall system efficiency. During winter, the passive wheel is turned off, and the enthalpy wheel alone preheats and humidifies the outdoor air, ensuring energy savings for heating and humidification.
